Tonight’s meeting of Hughenden Parish Council is cancelled because the meeting would have been unlawful if it had gone ahead and the validity of the decisions made at that meeting would then have been in doubt.
On Friday morning, I realised that that tonight’s agenda had not been posted on HPC’s website. Nor had notices been posted on the noticeboards at the Council Offices nor on the noticeboards in Widmer End.
Parish Councils are required by law to give three clear days of notice to the public so I suggested that the meeting on Tuesday was unlawful. As I didn’t get an answer, I wrote yesterday to Democratic Services in Bucks Council and asked for their advice.
The meeting was cancelled yesterday afternoon.
No date has yet been fixed for an Extraordinary meeting to conduct outstanding business. Otherwise, the next scheduled date for a Council meeting is 13 September.
